David Tyson

A nationally recognized expert in healthcare policy, David Tyson serves as the Senior Director, Policy & Regulatory Affairs, at Novant Health where he leads federal and state regulatory analysis and advocacy efforts on behalf of the system, its thousands of clinicians, and the millions of patients they serve annually. David also serves as the research lead for the Novant Health Center for Public Policy Solutions, working with frontline clinicians and nurses to develop policy proposals and proactive advocacy strategies to address common administrative and regulatory challenges they and their patients face daily.

While his work touches many different areas of healthcare policy, David’s particular interest and expertise is in acute and ambulatory reimbursement under Medicare and Medicaid, healthcare finance reform – including the transition to managed care and alternative payment models (APMs) – and the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA), and the federal 340B drug pricing program.
